A Broughty Ferry sports club is ready to continue the new sporting season thanks a fresh lick of paint and a national paint supplier.

The Forthill Sports Club in Fintry Place received the makeover from the Dulux Decorator Centres in Dundee.

Forthill was formed in the 1960s and offers members a range of sports, from rugby to squash, cricket to tennis and table tennis.

The club has around 400 members but despite the popularity the club was in dire need of a freshening up.

Club members and volunteers rolled up their sleeves to transform the external walls and doors using colours to reflect the variety of sports played at the club – maroon for rugby, blue for cricket and green for tennis.

Interior improvements included the main foyer, stairwell, games room and changing rooms, which were brightened up using a varied and vibrant colour palette.

The redecorating was carried out as part of the Dulux Decorator Centres’ Colouring the Community scheme after they were contacted by club president Iain Stevens.

He said: “There was no denying the club needed a splash of colour to bring the building up to standard for our many valued members.

“We’ve worked hard to improve our local home for sport and we’re all really grateful for the donated paint and materials, which have given us a facility to be proud of.”

John McDougall is the manager of the Dulux Decorator Centre, Dryburgh Industrial Estate. He said: “The club members and volunteers have done a brilliant job with the donated paint and Forthill Sports Club looks so much better now.

“We hope the club’s new look encourages more local sportspeople to make the most of this great facility on their doorsteps in the future.”
