The Friends of Broughty Ferry Library held an open evening at the library on Monday which attracted an audience of about 100 people.

Mr Charlie Webster presented prizes to children from Barnhill, Eastern and Forthill primary schools whose entries for the logo design for the friends had won prizes and certificates.

The judging panel had a very tough time as there were nearly 300 entries of a high standard, but were unanimous in choosing Carmen Thomson’s design as the overall winner.

Mr Webster then went on to give an informative and entertaining talk on the history of Broughty Ferry, well illustrated by slides and anecdotes, which led to lively informal debate afterwards.

Mr David Soutar, treasurer, proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Webster, the library staff and all those who had contributed to a successful and enjoyable event.
