Fund-raisers for Brook ‘up in the hair’

ARBROATH residents are going to hair-raising lengths this weekend to raise money to help a little girl walk.

Two separate events take place tomorrow (Saturday) when money will be raised in a pair of stunts to raise money for Carnoustie cause, Brooke’s Dream.

On Saturday afternoon Joe Spink and his girlfriend Stacey McColl will take part in a tandem bungee jump at the Xscape Centre in Glasgow.

Later that day, Barry Scotthorne and Jamie Smith will take part in a sponsored body wax at St Tam’s Bar in James Street, Arbroath.

Joe Spink and Barry Scotthorne both work at Northern Tool and Gear with Brooke Ramsay’s grandfather Ray Cargill and were both quick to step up and help.

Brooke’s father Stewart said: “It’s absolutely amazing, people we don’t even know are going to such lengths to support our daughter.

“We’re really looking forward to the bungee jump, anyone willing to throw themselves off a building for charity should be a good laugh.

“We’re also really grateful to Cosmic Beauty who stepped in at short notice and are sending two people to do the body wax on Saturday night.”

Tonight (Friday) an evening of mediumship will be held in the Meadowbank Inn from 7.30 p.m., there are still some tickets left which can be bought on the door for £10 and include stovies during the interval.

Brooke (7) suffers from a form of cerebral palsy which prevents her from walking freely, and her family are attempting to raise enough money to cover the expensive procedure and after-care needed to correct this.
