Carnoustie veterans are hosting a full day of fund-raising this weekend in support of an ex-services charity.

Members of the Carnoustie branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland are hosting two fund-raisers tomorrow (Saturday) in aid of Erskine.

They begin their day of charity with a combined table sale and coffee morning between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Laurie Lounge of their Dundee Street clubrooms.

Then at 8 p.m. the lights will dim and the music will start for an evening of dancing to golden oldies and country and western music, also in the Laurie Lounge.

Gavin Wilson from the Carnoustie branch said: “We have a fund within our branch into which we put all our money raised and at the end of the year we present that money to Erskine and it is mounting up.

“We’ve done various things for Erskine before and we’ve raised quite a lot of money for them in the past.

“Last week we had an open darts and dominoes competition which was quite successful and raised £127.”

Tables are available to rent on Saturday morning for £5 each and tickets for the dance are £4 and are available from the bar or at the door on the night.

Anyone donations of raffle prizes and such like would be greatly appreciated and can be handed in at the clubrooms.
