Carnoustie Gala Committee needs your help with this year’s gala day parade.

The committee are appealing for Carnoustie folk to step forward and take on roles as stewards at this year’s parade which is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at around 1pm.

Last year there was a similar issue with a lack of stewards, which are required by Police Scotland during events like parades.

It was so severe that the future of the parade was in question but after a public appeal, enough volunteers were found for it to go ahead. However, staffing issues have arisen again.

Ed Oswald fromthe committee explained: “We had saved up all the contacts from last year’s stewards but, of course, people will have moved on, or are on holiday or otherwise unavailable.

“The committee is looking for about 12 more stewards so that every street is covered as per Police recommendations.

“This will take the weight off our shoulders.”

Stewards will be needed for around 20 to 30 minutes at around 1pm on Saturday, July 4. To volunteer contact Carnoustie Gala Committee chair Mary Bushnell on 01241 854499.
