Arbroath folk looking to quit smoking were given a helping hand thanks to a smoking cessation information stall at the ACCESS office last week.
On Friday members of Angus Community Health Partnership’s (CHP) smoking cessation team were giving out tips and advice on how to give up smoking.
The team were providing information on NHS Tayside’s stop smoking schemes ‘quit4u’ and ‘Give it up for Baby’ as well as raising awareness about the free Quit Smoking Groups that are held across Angus.
These groups are run by smoking cessation advisors and smoking cessation coordinators and are held in Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar, Carnoustie and Montrose.
CHP smoking cessation coordinator Kelly Cruickshanks said: “Giving up smoking is one of the most important lifestyle changes that can improve health. It is never too late to quit, and stopping now could add years to your life and improve your quality of life.
“It is important to remember that it is never too late to give up smoking and free classes are held across Angus at different times throughout the day and after work. There is no need to book and smokers do not need to be referred by a GP or nurse. Having support when you want to stop smoking is very important in achieving success.”
