Friends and family of baby Annabelle Reid (pictured right) donated money to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, instead of buying gifts for her christening.
Carnoustie couple Scott and Janice Reid explained: “We realised how fortunate we are to have a healthy and happy baby. Annabelle received so many generous gifts from friends and family upon her birth, so we asked people to make donations at her christening to help care for sick babies.”
Annabelle’s mum Janice handed over the cheque to senior charge nurse Alison Findlay and was given a tour of the unit. She was told how the donation will be used in the forthcoming renovation of the facility.
Alison said: “Although we receive many generous donations, it is unusual to receive one from a baby who has not been in the unit. We would like to thank Annabelle and her parents for their generous donation.”
Annabelle was presented with a certificate from the NICU as a thank you for the gift.
