As preparations for Arbroath’s ninth annual Cancer Research UK Relay for Life continue to take shape, the international Relay for Life community has been celebrating another member.
There are now 24 other cancer charities Relaying alongside Cancer Research UK, with Turkey being the latest country to come on board this year.
On October 10, Turkey will host their very first event, as part of the largest cancer fundraiser in the world the Relay for Life which has raised over $5 Billion US Dollars.
Arbroath Relay Chair Ian Angus commented: “As the Global Relay For Life movement spreads across the world, from Japan, Guatemala and New Zealand to Canada, India, Zambia and Kenya, it is empowering patients, survivors and caregivers.
“Our volunteers have a powerful voice that is helping to raise awareness, fund life-saving programs and research that is saving lives all over the world.
“On a local level, there is hardly a week goes by without hearing of someone in our community who has been diagnosed with cancer.
“That is why everyone involved in the Arbroath Relay is determined to continue with their fund-raising to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
“Together, we can finish the fight against cancer – Relay For Life is the most magical platform with which to help achieve that goal.”
There is still time to get involved and be a part of a really special weekend of fun and fundraising.
