Hanging basket appeal

CARNOUSTIE Community Council is appealing to the town spirit of residents as they seek to replicate their ‘Scotland in Bloom’ success.

Following their success last year with hanging baskets on the High Street which culminated in winning a Bronze Award in the ‘Scotland in Bloom’ competition, the community council want to put on another dazzling floral display this year.

Organiser Kirsty MacDonald explained: “Last year we were able to secure hanging basket sponsorship through Dobbies but unfortunately their community budget for this year has been reduced drastically.

“We have managed, however, to source an alternative supplier and have enlisted the help of volunteers to plant up new baskets, but inevitably there are costs involved.

“Many of the shopkeepers and businesses who took part last year have already signed up again but we also need local residents to sponsor a basket to help us provide an even bigger and better display for the benefit of visitors and residents alike.”

If you would like to sponsor a hanging basket for a one-off payment of £20 contact either Kirsty MacDonald on 01241 853584 or Sue McMahon on 01241 852549 or email carnoustiecc@carnoustiecommunitycouncil.org.
