Members of Colourful Carnoustie, the town’s local environmental improvement group, have been disappointed to discover hanging baskets in the town have been vandalised.
The baskets at the foot of Queen Street were damaged at some time last Friday night/early Saturday morning.
The damage was discovered by Colourful Carnoustie helper and local gardener, Jon Brierley on his early morning watering round.
The group’s Chair, Kirsty MacDonald, said: “In the grand scheme of things, we realise this is fairly insignificant, but our hanging baskets give locals and visitors a lot of pleasure throughout the summer.
“Our volunteers spend a great deal of time and effort on the floral displays every year and without the sponsorship of residents and businesses in the town this wouldn’t be possible.
“It’s annoying that some mindless vandals would choose to ruin things for everyone else. Hopefully the incident has been recorded on CCTV.”
