For CARNOUSTIE celebrated it’s first year of fund-raising for local causes this week.
The charity shop which operates on the unique principle of ploughing all proceeds back into the community opened its doors on January 14, 2012.
The staff and trustees of For Carnoustie gathered in the shop at 89 High Street on Monday afternoon to mark the passing of a year which in October saw £20,000 donated to various Carnoustie causes.
For Carnoustie is operated by a staff of 25 volunteers while 11 trustees work behind the scenes to keep the project running smoothly.
Chairman of the board of trustees Brian Hodgson said: “I am immensely proud of everybody involved in For Carnoustie and I am proud to work with all of my trustees.
“They are a fantastic team and all individually respected members of our community.
“I would like to personally thank everybody involved in the running of the shop and the generosity of local people.”
The project will however not be resting on its laurels and 2013 will be a busy year, with For Carnoustie planning to attend local events such as the Gala Days and a number of new ideas in the pipeline.
