A FREE ‘Staying Active with Diabetes’ information event for people living with diabetes is to be held in The Health Education Room at Springfield Medical Centre, Arbroath, on Thursday (May 10) from 3 to 5 p.m.

Organised by the Arbroath Diabetes Forum, the afternoon is aimed at people living in Arbroath and the surrounding area who are living with diabetes and is open to families and carers as well.

The theme of the afternoon will be focusing on the importance of staying active for people living with diabetes. During the afternoon session people will be able to find out more about what they can do to improve their activity levels and be offered practical tips and advice on what is available locally to support them.

Light refreshments will be provided and it is hoped the event will be an opportunity for people living with diabetes, their families and carers to get together.

Rhona Guild, primary care manager, Angus Community Health Partnership, said: “Living with a long-term condition can be very challenging. That is why it is important for people affected by a long-term condition to have access to the right information, education, support and services to help them manage their condition more effectively.

“Being active and staying active is important and this afternoon session organised by the Arbroath Diabetes Forum offers additional information and support to people with diabetes to help improve their activity levels. I would encourage people living with diabetes and their families and friends to come along to the free event at Springfield Medical Centre.”
