LOCAL politicians have welcomed a new NHS initiative providing support for Scotland’s veterans.
The Veterans’ Health Zone will provide help and specialist information to healthcare workers, armed forces veterans and their family and friends. The iniative, on the new NHS Inform information service, also includes a new Veterans’ Healthcare Guide.
Ferry Councillor Kevin Cordell said: “There is veterans’ housing in my ward and of course the Rosendael Home for veterans and former service personnel, which is run by the Scottish Veterans’ Housing Association and so I am keen to see this initiative making a difference and will be bringing it to their attention. This is a positive new source of advice and a further demonstration of the Scottish Government’s determination to do all that it can to support our veterans.”
Dundee East MP Stewart Hosie added: “It is important that we do everything we can to support our veterans. We have a duty to ensure that they have all the support and care that they may need.”
