Carnoustie Scout Group was recently awarded a grant from ‘For Carnoustie’ and has bought three grass sledges. On Sunday,

some Cubs and their parents tried them out for the first time at Victoria Park, Arbroath. Brian Hodgson, chairperson of the For Carnoustie trustees, accompanied the party.

Matthew Crombie, Joel Brown, Greg Oliphant, Ethan Russell, Jack and Harry Edwards led the way hurtling down the grass slope on the caterpillar tracked sledges. They were soon followed by their parents and of course Brian could not resist joining in as well.

The grass sledges can be used all year round and were a hit with both Cubs and adults. Brian remarked that he was glad to see the youngsters having so much fun as a result of this the first round of For Carnoustie’s grant awards.
