The band pays homage to the Great War in a patriotic opening half to their annual Gala Concert on August 29.
The Band has selected a programme which will include “Come Follow the Band” from the musical ‘Barnum’, ‘Dream a Little Dream’, ‘Londonderry Air’ and ‘Songs from the Great War’, which includes well known favourites ‘Pack up your Troubles’ and ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’ to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
Joining the band again this year will be the Arbroath Instrumental Youth Band, performing to an exceptionally high standard under the baton of Ann Ness, principal cornet player with the band.
The standard of this band is all the more amazing considering the average age is twelve.
Starting at 7.30 p.m. in the Webster Memorial Theatre under musical director Mr Michael Robertson, the concert promises something for everyone.
Tickets priced at £10 and £8 concessions are available from Webster Memorial Theatre Box Office.
