The Provost of Angus started the final countdown earlier today (Tuesday) to the arrival of the 2014 Commonwealth Games to our area.
Provost Helen Oswald joined 2010 Commonwealth Games marksman Drew Christie at Auchterhouse Country Sports to mark one year until the XX Commonwealth Games comes to Angus.
Mrs Oswald said: “Angus is so proud to be part of one of the world’s biggest sporting events. The county will be celebrating the occasion with the rest of Scotland and making the most of the opportunity to welcome thousands of visitors from across the Commonwealth.”
The MoD firing range at Barry Buddon training camp is set to host all of the shooting competitions during next year’s games.
Angus and Dundee councils, the MoD and other agencies, are working closely with the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee to ensure all the necessary arrangements are in place.
