An Arbroath pipe band’s fund-raising to get kitted out in the town’s tartan has had a generous boost.
The Arbroath Royal British Legion Scotland Pipe Band was recently presented with a cheque for £200 from the Arbroath Royal Artillery Association Ladies’ Section, and the money will go towards the purchase of ‘Red Lichtie’ tartan kilts.
The ladies regularly raise money through various events and donate them to local good causes and were keen support the pipers’ venture.
Chairperson of the Arbroath RBLS Pipe Band Colin McDonald said: “We greatly appreciate the massive support we have had from local clubs and individuals in our fund-raising efforts for new kilts.
“It has reaffirmed to us that the people of Arbroath are proud that their local band is supporting a local tartan for the town.
“The generosity of the people of Arbroath and surrounding area has been fantastic and we are getting close to raising the total required for the new kilts.”
He added: “We are very much looking forward to wearing the new kilts when they arrive in the next few months and hope to arrange an opportunity to play as a band in Arbroath to allow the people of the town to see what they have so generously donated towards.”
