FOUR Arbroath ladies who share a common link to the armed forces have raised £1,000 in just two hours in support of the country’s war heroes.
Lena Stewart, Sheenagh Bowmen, Edith Dear, and Iris Baldry were inspired to organise a coffee morning in aid of the veterans’ charity Erskine because they all have family members who are service personnel.
With the help of their friends at the Arbroath branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland in Helen Street they held their event last Saturday, October 27.
And through the sale of knitted items and home baking they collected £1,000.
The money will help Erskine to provide its renowned standard of care at its five care homes and partnership homes in Scotland.
Catherine Cowie, north of Scotland fund-raiser, said: “This was a marvellous amount raised by these four fantastic ladies - Lena, Sheenagh, Edith and Iris - as well as members of the Arbroath Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland.
“They are all proud supporters of Erskine and the money raised through their coffee morning will help our charity to continue to deliver its renowned standard of care for veterans in Scotland.”
