A Monifieth dad is to tackle a solo 96 mile run in just 24 hours to raise money for the cancer charity which supported his late father.
On Wednesday father of two Leon Hunter (37) is to attempt the notorious West Highland Way in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support who helped his father Jim Hunter who died of prostate cancer in April.
Leon hopes to raise £1,000 for the charity as a thank you for all their efforts in caring for his father, a former language teacher at Arbroath High School.
Leon said: “My Dad was fortunate to have his friends and family by his side during his illness as well as the support of his Macmillan nurse throughout.
“No-one should face cancer alone and I wanted to do something to help make sure Macmillan would be there for everyone, especially those who may not have family around.”
All the money raised will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.
