It’s business as usual in Monifieth Library with plenty of activities happening in the New Year.
The winner of the Costa Book of the Year will be announced on January 28, with category winners being announced on January 6.
The library is also hosting local author Mhairi Pyott on January 20 at 2.30 p.m.
Mhairi, better known to Monifieth residents as Margaret Copland, will be talking about her new book ‘Nae Mammies Kisses’.
Tickets are free and can be reserved by popping into the library or ‘phoning on 01382 533819.
January 13 sees the launch of Rocket through Reading (RTR), a new reading scheme which is unique to Angus. Pop into the library and ask staff for more details.
Lastly, there’s an event coming up which will appeal to adults and children alike. National Libraries Day 2014 takes place on February 8.
This is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate how much they love their local library and staff need your help!
First, they would like customers to let them know what their favourite books are. These can be books you have read either in your childhood or adulthood.
Second, staff will be asking customers to fill in small comment cards saying why they love the library.
For children, the library will be hosting a craft morning on National Libraries Day itself. Drop in any time between 10.30 and 11.30 a.m. to create your own Valentines Day card and you can tell staff why you love your library at the same time.
