Lichties enjoy Lothian sound

It was another exciting night at the latest meeting of Arbroath Accordion and Fiddle Club. On Sunday night local players including Tony Simpson, Avril Abbot, Arthur Wood, Cora Nicol, John Davidson, John Hart, John White and Stewart Tough entertained the audience prior to the two performances from the Alec Ross Ceilidh Band. This five piece guest band, all from the Edinburgh area, comprised Alec Ross on lead accordion, Adam Young on second accordion, Duncan Black on piano and Kenneth Ross on drums. Young Alison Ewan was introduced on fiddle and the band produced a very unique sound playing a number of celtic style music sets as well as traditional reels, jigs
and marches.

The next meeting will
take place on Sunday, November 2, when the guest band will be the Ian Cruickshank Duo from Kirriemuir
and players and listeners alike will be made most welcome to this meeting with the doors of Arbroath Golf Club opening at 7.30 p.m.
