Broughty Ferry RNLI all weather lifeboat was launched yesterday (Wednesday, July 27) to assist a yacht having problems with its mast near the mouth of the River Tay.
Broughty Ferry RNLI volunteer crew members were alerted today of a yacht experiencing mast problems at 2.36pm today. The yacht involved, a 24 foot vessel was experiencing difficulties near to the Fairway buoy approximately four miles from Carnoustie.
The RNLI all weather lifeboat Elizabeth of Glamis was launched at 2.47pm and arrived at the scene by 3.12pm.
Once on scene the lifeboat crews assessed the situation and secured a tow line to the yacht before towing it upriver to be secured to a visitor mooring at the Royal Tay Yacht Club.
The yacht was manned by two persons who were uninjured.
Once secured the lifeboat returned to station by 5.40pm and was soon in a state of readiness for any further calls.
