The residents of Monifieth turned out in force on Thursday in the town centre for the annual Christmas lights switch on and some live entertainment.

The main shopping precinct on the High Street was crowded with families who had come to enjoy the great many acts that were performing on the temporary stage organised by the Monifieth Community Council.

There were choirs singing carols from Grange, Seaview and Mattocks primary schools, performances from the Wilma Tolmie Highland dancers, Monifieth High School’s junior and senior dance groups, D-Dance, and a finale from the Ensemble Glee Club.

Monifieth and District Rotary served mulled wine, Dundee Round Table ran a hotdog stand and the Monifieth Community Resource Group had a stall selling calendars and other items.

The switch was thrown by the winners of the Monifieth Community Council poster competition: Georgia Kleppang, Charlie Liddon and Eilidh Mutten.
