A CARNOUSTIE business has risen from the ashes and will settle into its permanent new home next month.

The Perfect Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service and the Carnoustie Country Larder, both owned by businessman and town councillor Bill Bowles will set up shop at 49 High Street.

The Guide & Gazette spoke to Councillor Bowles this week who was able to confirm the news.

He said: “It’s true. We’ll hopefully be in there by the middle of April.

“Fin & Co. vacate their premises officially on March 31 and we are looking to be in there as the Perfect Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service and the Carnoustie Country Larder outlet by the middle of April.”

Hairdressing salon Fin & Co. will officially re-open with the same staff, services and number on March 14 at their new premises at 1A High Street, formerly Angus Photography.

Currently Bill and his staff are operating out of the former Mel’s Pet Shop at 69 High Street, but according to him their new site will be more suitable.

He said: “We’ve chosen 49 High Street because it’s got two windows and it’s a bigger shop and it’s in a better location for us.

“Also with the two windows we’ll be able to keep the two businesses separate and avoid any confusion.”

The Perfect Laundry has also expanded into an industrial unit at the town to keep up with demand. Bill said: “We’ve got a unit at the Panmure Industrial Estate and we started operations there as of Tuesday.

“Everything is happening pretty quickly and we are back on our feet.”

The original laundry and greengrocer premises at 18 High Street were destroyed in a dramatic fire on January 4, but within a matter of days the businesses had been temporarily relocated and reopened.

Bill was unable to cast much light on the future of the fire damaged property.

He said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen, it’s not my building.

“There are some options being considered by the owners at the moment.”
