Local community councillors needed in Monifieth

There is still time for people in parts of Angus to put themselves forward to represent their community.

The time frame in which residents can submit nominations to serve on their local community councils has been extended by the Returning Officer by one week in eight of the 25 community council areas. This is because not enough people have put themselves up for nomination and with insufficient numbers to fill vacancies the community councils could fold.

Regulations dictate that the community councils of Monifieth and seven other Angus areas cannot continue if half of the community councillor vacancies are unfilled. So, if you want to help your local community and have a voice in local decisions that affect local people – get involved. Candidates in the eight areas now have until 4pm on Monday, October 5, to put forward nominations. For further details, please contact the Angus Council Election Team on 01307 476060 or by email to elections@angus.gov.uk You can also visit the community council election page on the council’s website. Nomination forms are available from the Returning Officer (Community Council Elections), Elections Office, Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AN.
