On Friday, Monifieth High School’s art department organised an excursion to Edinburgh for the S6 Advanced Higher pupils and the new National 5 S4 pupils.
The pupils travelled by bus into the centre of Edinburgh where they were divided into groups and taken to visit various art galleries and exhibitions in Scotland’s capital city.
The S6 pupils followed individual itineraries particular to their area of study, while the S4 pupils visited the Dazzle exhibition to see contemporary jewellery.
They then visited the Museum of Scotland and a variety of private galleries in the afternoon.
Many of these exhibitions were organised at part of the well-known annual Fringe Festival.
The purpose of the trip was to both educate and inspire the young people, and to give them new ideas to further develop their own art work.
This trip was deemed successful, with many learning opportunities for all involved.
The staff and gallery owners commented on the pupils’ positive attitude whilst in attendance and exemplary behaviour.
