Reports of a missing person sparked Police Scotland to call on Arbroath and Carnoustie coastguard rescue team’s help on Wednesday at 5.48 p.m.

RNLI’s Arbroath all weather and inshore lifeboats were requested to launch and assist in the hunt for the missing person.

To widen the search and ensure all areas were covered additional teams from Montrose and Dundee were also called in.

HM Coastguard Angus and Mearns said: “After a detailed search of the area to the north of Arbroath, information was received that the noted missing person had been located safe and well.”

All teams and crews were stood down and returned to stations.
