Broughty Ferry beach has won a Scottish Seaside Award for an amazing 11th time.
It’s the 11th time the beach has been presented with the Resort Seaside Award from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
To gain the Seaside Award from Keep Scotland Beautiful, 28 criteria must be met: including appropriate access for disabled people, safety management and cleanliness.
Environment vice-convener councillor Vari McDonald, of Dundee City Council, said: “It is a huge asset and will continue to be enjoyed by both visitors and locals during the summer months.
“Obviously on a lovely sunny day Broughty Ferry is very popular. The cafes and shops are always busy with people getting something to take down to the beach for the day.
“I hope this only encourages even more people to head on down to the beach during this year’s bathing season.
“We have an area marked out where it is safe to swim and we also have our lifeguards on duty so that creates a nice safe environment for everybody on the beach”
Hundreds of local residents and visitors are expected to head down to the beach during this year’s bathing season which runs from Saturday, June 14 until Sunday, September 7 2014.
