Ferry Ward councillor Kevin Cordell has welcomed news that the ‘start point’ of the No. 5 National Express Service will be moved.
He explained: “The bus stop on Balgillo Road opposite Kintail Place is the traditional ‘start point’ of the Service 5 on its way back into Dundee City Centre via Broughty Ferry.
“As this stop is also used by the services 9, 11 and 39 it is quite possible that more than one bus can be stopped at this busy stretch of road causing major congestion headaches.
“I have also heard of some residents being ‘trapped’ in their driveways as the buses block their exit.” The bus stop in question sits near the junction of Forthill Road and Balgillo Road, which causes another set of difficulties as the junction at Forthill Road and Balgillo Road serves Forthill Primary School and is manned by a crossing patrol officer.
“If there are buses sitting at the layover stop, then the traffic can be queued along the junction making things hazardous for schoolchildren.
