The proprietor of the new cafe at Carnoustie Leisure Centre is looking forward to opening the next branch in his successful cafe chain next week.
If all goes well with the final installations Dennis Laidlaw (34) will be hoping to open the doors on Monday to the latest branch of successful Montrose-based Madison’s Cafe.
Speaking to the Guide & Gazette on Wednesday Dennis said: “It’s another Madisons, we started on Montrose High Street and we’ve been installed at Montrose Sports Centre for the last 18 months.
“We go live on Monday, but I’ve actually been serving today doing ice creams and slush puppies for the kids.
“All going well, the big install is the coffee machine on Thursday.”
The cafe will serve a range of triple-certified, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance approved organic coffees and other hot drinks, Mr Whippy, Slush Puppies, home baking and light meals from sandwiches and soups to wraps and salad bowls.
His 14 years in the catering industry, four years running Madisons and experience in operating from a sports centre will all come in handy according to Dennis.
He said: “It’s been great. Montrose Sports Centre came about 18 months ago and at first it was a bit of a worry opening up in a sports centre instead of on a high street where you have passing trade and instead relying on someone else’s customers.”
Understandably Dennis is particularly looking forward to Glasgow 2014 and the shooting events which will take place at Barry Buddon.
He said: “I can’t wait until the Commonwealth Games, it’s cracking down here.”
