Carnoustie should be splitting at the sides with pride for ‘young people’ as a group of 11 pupils from Carnoustie High donate their holiday money to charity.

An art group run by Angus Council Communities Service, in the Panmure Centre, came together to complete the Dynamic Youth Awards last year.

A key task for the Awards was to organise a team event to raise money for a group outing. The group worked hard to achieve this and raised £456 at a coffee morning.

Reflecting the thoughtful nature of the group, after hearing that their youth worker, Kathryn, had lost her father to lung cancer, they donated the money raised to Macmillan Cancer Support and another donation to Carnoustie High teacher, Mr Bell’s Level 8 fund.

Kathryn Foot, communities assistant, said: “The group has transformed from a shy, disjointed, lacking in confidence bunch of individuals into a lovely, positive team of supportive, kind, enthusiastic and confident citizens that any community would love to claim as their own.

“It has been a pleasure to watch the, grow and develop over these last two years and we are so proud of them for achieving their Dynamic Youth Two Star Awards.”
