A local lady who does not even smoke has won a £30,000 sports car in a competition run by leading e-cigarette brand SKYCIG and Ginetta.

Catriona (Cat) McCann, a department supervisor for a company of solicitors in Dundee, told the Guide & Gazette that she was “completely gobsmacked’ when her name was drawn from the shortlist of three.

She won a Ginetta G40R car worth over £29,950 which was handed over by Ginetta GT Supercup star Tom Ingram at an awards ceremony at Ginetta’s headquarters in Leeds on Saturday.

Cat, who is an avid motorsport fan, explained that she had purchased the e-cigarette to try to get her dad to stop smoking. She herself is a non smoker, but said that she was trying to get her dad to give up.

To mark the second year of supporting Ginetta GT Supercup star Tom Ingram and the Ginetta series, SKYCIG attended all British Touring Car Championship meetings in 2013, offering those who purchased SKYCIG products the opportunity to win the car in question.

Cat commented: “It was such a fantastic evening! Normal folks like me don’t usually get the chance to attend events like this, so to go was amazing but to come away with a car is simply mind-blowing!”

She has not quite got her new vehicle on the road yet, as she is still trying to sort out insurance details. However, she is confident they will be resolved shortly and the car will be seen in Carnoustie.

Tom Ingram stated: “It was a really good night and fantastic for SKYCIG to be associated with it! It was especially great to see the winner of the SKYCIG branded G40 so happy and with tears in her eyes.”

Tom Rolfe, president of SKYCIG added: “We are delighted to be able to offer a Ginetta G40R to Cat and be able to play a part in supporting such a fantastic sport!”
