50 brave souls, including the Red Lichtie tartan designer, an Arbroath firewalker and an MP, are to abseil from the Tower Building at Dundee University tomorrow (Saturday).
Tartan designer Steven Patrick Sim, firewalking fund-raiser Christine Esslemont and Jim McGovern MP are to take the plunge in aid of Dundee Carers Centre tomorrow afternoon between 1 and 5 p.m..
Over £5,000 has been raised to date, with donations still being taken online at www.justgiving.com/dcica/donate.
There are also still a few spaces left in the late afternoon, available for £25 each.
According to Deputy Manager Tim Mineard: “It’s going to be a fantastic day and hopefully those taking part will have fun too. This is the first event which has been organised to celebrate the Centre’s 25th Anniversary year and the money raised will help us get closer to our £25,000 fundraising target. The support for the event has been tremendous and we hope to organise another similar event next year. Fingers crossed for a sunny day!”
2014 marks a quarter of a century of the Dundee Carers Centre providing services to unpaid carers across the city.
