Charity shop ‘For Carnoustie’ has succeeded again in spreading the wealth throughout the community in a donation Gala last night.

Over 40 local organisations have been honoured as Melanie Coleman and her team have sliced up the profits from the shop and donated it all to the community at a ceremony in Carnoustie Hotel last night.

Representatives from good causes throughout the area turned out for the charity donation ceremony.

Run by volunteers the shop raises substantial sums of money to reinvest back into local groups and individuals that are in need of a little extra help.

“69 applications went out and 49 of them returned,” said For Carnoustie chairperson, Mrs Coleman. “It was a very busy and fun night!”

A number of education establishments received funding including Kinloch Kids Club, Carlogie Primary School, Woodlands Pre-School and Burnside Parent and Toddler Group.

Sporting groups also received money such as Panmure Under 9’s and Carnoustie Football Academy, Mini-Midi Rugby Club, Craws Nest Football Club and Carnoustie High Fencing Club. Social and community groups such as the Pipe Band, Befrienders, Theatre Club, Horticultural Society and St Andrew’s First Aid were also fortunate to receive funding.

The money donated on Thursday came from the proceeds of goods donated to the shop but they are always looking for more help.

“Even if it is someone who can donate their time to, painting for example, it saves us paying someone to do that work,” said a spokesperson.
