DIGITAL UPDATE: Social media event is designed to help community organisations in Angus go digital.

Community organisations in Angus are being encouraged to sign up to ‘Digital Angus’, a one-day social media event at the end of January.

Angus Council is working in partnership with Third Sector Lab to deliver a workshop which provides community organisations in Angus with the skills they need to make social media work for them.

Topics to be covered include:

l Social media strategy for people new to digital communications.

l Developing a social media policy and guidelines to protect and empower staff and volunteers.

l Community engagement using audio and visual tools.

l Using social media to make your events and training a success.

l Effective use of Twitter and Facebook for third sector organisations.

The event promises to be an exciting interactive day with inspirational speakers, including Kenny McDonald, corporate communications manager for the Scottish Government; Jennifer M Jones, project coordinator of the Digital Commonwealth Project; Richard Rooney, online editor of The Courier; Debbie Fellows, Associate (Employment Law), Thorntons Law LLP; Peggy Hughes, Literary Dundee; and Derek Harper, BRAVO Brechin.

Digital Angus will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Angus House, Orchardbank, Forfar.

Lunch will be provided. The cost of the event is £25 per participant.
