Home help with a canine twist

Carnoustie Canine Capers are hosting a lecture next week on the work of an organisation which trains helper dogs.

On Tuesday, April 29, at 7.30 p.m. in the Philip Hall, Dave Gormley will talk about his group Canine Partners.

His group trains assistance dogs to transform the lives of people with disabilities.

Canine partners can help retrieve items such as keys or crutches, assist with dressing, fetch help in an emergency, provide companionship, increase social interaction and much more.

The charity aims to train dogs to meet the needs of people with even the most complex disabilities, including members of HM Armed Forces.

Entry to the talk is £5 for adults, £3 for students and seniors, and free for children under 12 or users of assistance dogs.

There will also be a volunteer signer for anyone with hearing difficulties.

All proceeds will to go to Canine Partners, which relies on public donations and receives no public funding.
