An ancient Broughty-based open water swimming club is offering an ideal opportunity to ‘test the water’ at their next event.

Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association will host The Discovery Mile on Saturday, August 9, which is a great entry level event for open water swimming.

The event is a self-navigated, tide-assisted mile long course in a safe and controlled environment and is open to all over the age of 12.

It begins with a briefing at 1.15 p.m. at Discovery Point before the swimmers take to the water at 2.45 p.m. at the Bridgeview Cafe and make their way down past the rapidly developing Dundee Waterfront to the Premier Inn and the historic RRS Discovery.

Entry is £20 and must be completed by tomorrow (Saturday, July 26). To register visit http://www.yeaaba.org.uk/discovery-mile
