The 2014 Arbroath Relay For Life promises to be a huge affair this year with more than £10,000 pledged so far from 200 participants.

Arbroath’s own Darren Burnett, reigning World Indoor Bowls champion kicked off proceedings at Arbroath Golf Club last Saturday evening.

After the event team chairman Brian Cargill announced that with the addition of a new team that day the total was up to 25 teams consisting of more than 200 people who have so far managed to raise over £10,000.

Chair of the Arbroath Relay For Life, Ian Angus said:”There has been a phenomenal response and we are off to a flying start. But we have a fair bit to go yet before we match last year’s total and everyone is agreed that we would like to do even better this year.

“From speaking to our amazing relayers on Saturday night, I know that they have no intention of relaxing just yet! They are brimming with new and exciting ideas for fund-raising and I am looking forward to the events that are already in the pipeline.”

Anyone wishing to take part in this year’s Relay For Life in Arbroath can register a team by logging on to the Cancer Research UK Relay For Life website and following the links.
