Repairs needed following accident

Damage to the telegraph pole in Station Road, Barry, is repaired by BT engineers.

Investigations are under way into the circumstances behind an accident in Barry at the weekend.

At around 10.40 a.m. on Sunday it is understood that an Angus Council vehicle was involved in an accident with telegraph poles on Station Road, Barry.

A spokesperson for BT said: “On Sunday, July 13, a lorry damaged BT’s overhead cabling and pulled down two poles near to the Barry Buddon firing range affecting a small number of customers for a short time. BT engineers visited the site quickly to make the pole safe and reconnect the lines on a temporary basis. BT engineers then revisited the site on Monday and worked into the evening to replace the two poles.”

An Angus Council spokesperson added: “An incident involving a vehicle servicing the recycling centre is currently being investigated by the council. The incident has also been reported to the police.”

Police Scotland have confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
