Singapore takes the first shooting medal

There was a tense finish to the first medal competition on the opening day (Friday) of the Commonwealth Games shooting events at Barry Buddon.

Out of the scorching weather the Women’s 10m Air Pistol took place in one of the custom built temporary shooting ranges at the MoD training ground.

The first three medals awarded at Barry Buddon were in the 10m Air Pistol Women. On the podium from left - silver medallist Malaika Goel, India; gold medallist Shun Xie Teo, Singapore; and bronze medallist Dorothy Ludwig, Canada.

Singaporean athlete Shun Xie Teo had been performing solidly throughout the event surged into the lead in the elimination rounds to outperform the likes of India’s Malaika Goel and Australian Lalita Yauhleuskaya who had dominated much of the early competition.
