The Arbroath Relay For Life committee has revealed details of the latest events to be confirmed in conjunction with this year’s fund-raiser.

There will be an angling competition and a one-off golf tournament, as well as a ‘Strictly’ style dancing competition which is scheduled for the day of the Relay itself.

Relay chair Ian Angus commented; “We are delighted that Arbroath Angling Club have confirmed their support for this year’s Relay For Life. They have agreed to organise a fishing competition with all proceeds from the competition going towards our fund-raising total. Forbes of Kingennie have kindly agreed to host the competition.”

Another exciting event to be confirmed as part of Arbroath Relay for Life 2014 is ‘Strictly Dance for Life’. This will take place at the Relay itself on Saturday, September 20.

“We are grateful to Ian and Violet Johnstone of Auchmithie School of Dance, who have agreed to host a dancing lesson with a ‘Strictly’ style dancing competition to finish.”

Another fund-raiser, associated with this year’s Relay is a golf tournament hosted by Arbroath Artisans and styled as Arbroath’s Ryder Cup. The tournament, due to take place early in the year, has already attracted a substantial sum of money in sponsorship.

“It has been a great start to the Relay year and we would like to thank all of those organisations for their fantastic support,” said Ian

“Things are really beginning fall into place and this year’s Relay is shaping up to be a really big day for Arbroath and district.”

There are 18 teams registered already for this year’s Relay For Life and anyone thinking of getting involved should contact Mr Angus on 07928 521030 or team chair Brian Cargill on brian@cargill.uk.com
