Heading onto the global football scene is Arbroath’s Laura Parsley after securing a two-year soccer scholarship at South Georgia College.
Laura started playing at the age of seven with the Arbroath Inchape Girls and was involved in her first game for the under-11s aged eight.
With the help and guidance of Ian Cameron, Dave Beattie and her father, Ian, she successfully played for a number of junior teams before settling with the Forfar Farmington Scottish Premier League team.
“If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Laura said.
Laura got into the game watching her childhood role model, Lionel Messi, on television. The attacking midfielder is excited about the opportunity to play in America: “I am feeling nervous as well as excited, about meeting new people and being away from home.
“Of course I am going to miss Arbroath, this is where I grew up and started my football career.
“What I won’t miss about Arbroath is the weather!”
