As the closing date for Dundee and Angus College’s 2014 “Think Big” Business competition approaches, last year’s winner, Zoe Duthie, is preparing to launch her business to the wedding market.
Jewellery designer Zoe is full of enthusiasm for the competition, which has smoothed her passage from her spare room into her own shop in Forfar High Street.
She is now using the remainder of her prize to target the lucrative wedding jewellery market.
Zoe said: “I get a huge amount of satisfaction out of creating special ‘one off’ pieces for wedding parties. It’s not just the engagement and wedding rings, I am now getting commissions for matching items such as bracelets for the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride.
“Without the help of the cash injection and the expert support I received after winning “Think Big”, I could never have made this kind of progress so rapidly.”
Zoe is very supportive of the competition and has now agreed to join the judging panel for this year’s competition, which closes today.
Chairman of the judges Paul Grant said: “Zoe is a perfect example of what we’re looking for. A fledgling or start-up business which has a strong idea of where they want to go, but could do with a little more finance and expertise to get there.”
