Local MSP’s festive message

DUNDEE City East MSP Shona Robison wishes her constiuents a Merry Christmas in her festive message.

She said: “There have been many highlights in this busy year, particularly in my role as minister of Commonwealth Games and sport, attending the Ryder Cup and the Olympics.

“A lot of work is going on behind the scenes to ensure that the 2014 Commonwealth Games builds on the public’s enthusiasm for sporting excellence.

“As part of that I was delighted to open an astroturf pitch at Whitton Park, Claypotts, for Dundee East Community Sports Club.”

She went on: “However, very worrying is the potential impact next year on some of the most vulnerable in our society of the forthcoming wide-scale reforms of the benefits system.

“It is becoming increasingly obvious that the Westminster Government’s agenda diverges from the consensus of opinion in Scotland on social welfare issues. “
