Local singer at The Gardyne

A WELL-KNOWN singer and songwriter who grew up in Carnoustie, Roddy Woomble, will appear at the Gardyne Theatre, Broughty Ferry, on Thursday, May 10.

After gaining success as the lead singer with the band ‘Idlewild’, which has recorded seven albums, Roddy is at present working on his third solo album. This is an eclectic mixture of folk and acoustic music.

As well as writing songs and singing, over the years Roddy has turned his hand to writing for various publications and to broadcasting.

For the forthcoming tour, he will be accompanied by his present band of Seonaid Aitken, fiddle, piano and vocals; Sorren Maclean, guitar and vocals; and Gavin Fox - a former member of ‘Idlewild’ - on bass guitar.

The Gardyne concert will include songs from his recent solo album ‘The Impossible song and other songs’ as well as some popular ‘Idlewild’ material.

Tickets for the performance can be obtained from the Dundee Box Office on 01382 434940.
