ANGUS Council say they plan to build on the success of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards after 183 local youngsters received their awards last year.
The scheme helps in developing skills for work and life and Angus is the second highest authority in Scotland for the number of awards gained per young person against the percentage of population.
The number of young people in Angus who have completed their Bronze and Silver awards has doubled since 2009.
Last year over 170 young people were awarded their Bronze certificates and 13 young people travelled to Holyrood Palace to receive their Gold award from His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
The council say that this significant achievement is thanks to the many volunteers and leaders in Angus whose energy, expertise and commitment encourages young people to participate and complete their awards.
