Carnoustie couple Caroline and Ian Berry are gearing up for a London to Paris charity bike ride challenge this summer.

Caroline told the Guide & Gazette: “The decision was made in a moment of madness! I work with Action for Children in Dundee and an e-mail arrived at the office appealing for volunteers to take part in the London to Paris event.

“It seemed like a fun thing to do, so I persuaded my husband and we signed up.”

She went on: “I know it is a good cause as I have seen how the money is spent. The charity relies on donations and I have seen first hand the difference it makes.”

Ian, who is a native of Dundee, is also involved with children as he works with young people in a remedial school.

The couple hope to raise at least £3,000 and anything over that sum will be consigned to projects in Dundee.

The 234-mile sponsored bike ride will take Caroline and Ian from London through the English countryside to rural France, and on to the heart of Paris, where it finishes under the world-famous Arc de Triomphe.
