Lots of capers going on

CARNOUSTIE Canine Capers were out at the weekend spreading the word among competitors at a regional dog show.

On Saturday members of the ‘Bow Wow Gang’ met at Carnoustie Leisure Centre to give out free poo bags and Green Dog Walker leaflets to exhibitors at the Tayside and Dundee Canine Club Show.

The following day, the group were fortunate to enjoy good weather for their social dog walk from East Scryne to Craigmill and back.

After enjoying their stroll in the countryside the walkers had an al fresco picnic with fresh local strawberries and ice cream, courtesy of Yvonne.

Joining the walkers was Sandy Wallace, the winner of the Scottish Parliamentary bottle of whisky from the Canine Capers Gala Day prize draw.

This Sunday the group will man an information stall promoting the Green Dog Walkers, their activities, dog welfare and the benefits of micro-chipping in a marquee behind the visitor centre at Crombie Park between 12 noon and 4 p.m.

Dog owners who have not yet signed the Green Dog Walker pledge will have another opportunity to do so, and will receive a supply of free poo bags into the bargain.

The organisers wish to thank Angus County Rangers for their support for this event.

Carnoustie Canine Capers has also recently signed up to support the Carnoustie Fairtrade Group and their aims.

Copies of the Canine Capers programme from August until February are available from Mel’s Pet Shop or the Wallace Veterinary Centre, Carnoustie.
