DRIVERS parking in the West Abbey Street car park in the town centre will have to display a ticket on their car from next month.
The car park is a short stay facility and as part of a year long trial period, a ticket machine is being installed to better manage the car park.
Drivers will be required to obtain a ticket from the machine to prove their time of arrival, although parking will still remain free of charge.
The arrangement comes into force on Monday, October 1 and will only apply to the West Abbey Street car park.
New signs will also be erected to advise drivers of the arrangements.
The scheme will be reviewed at the end of the trial period.
Angus Council’s infrastructure services committee agreed in 2010 to install the ticket machine in the town centre car park.
It will allow drivers to park for a maximum of two hours and it is hoped it will improve the turnover of spaces.
