A Carnoustie schoolgirl has beaten entries from across the UK in a national postcard design competition and won a year’s supply of stickers for her school.

Maisie Haggart (10) a pupil at Burnside Primary School won the ‘Pride of Place Pupils Postcard Competition’, run by School Stickers, with her depiction of Loch Ness and Nessie.

The competition gave young people a chance to show off landmarks, places of beauty or interest and there were finalists from as far apart as Oban and London, Bishop Auckland and Derry.

Maisie’s entry caught the judges’ eye and attracted a huge number of comments on the School Stickers’ website.

She said: “I was so excited to be chosen as a finalist. I am very grateful to everyone that commented to help my design win!”

Burnside Primary School teacher Claire Smith added: “We are very proud that Maisie’s postcard won this competition. It really does show off our beautiful country and I particularly like the big smile on Nessie’s face. We are excited that it has been shown off to the rest of the country.”

The school will now receive a year’s supply of School Stickers’ products which will be awarded to pupils for doing well in class.
